Félicien Akohoue is a motivated researcher with a plant breeding and agricultural research background. He completed his doctoral degree in agricultural sciences at the University of Hohenheim in Germany after completing his Master of Science in plant breeding at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Félicien’s research interests focus on applying cutting-edge genomics-assisted breeding methods for improved crop resistance to diseases and resilience to abiotic stresses. For several years, He has worked on planning and executing multi-environment trials and applying various analytical tools from quantitative genetics, biostatistics to genomics (genome-wide association mapping and genomic selection) in breeding programs in both African and European contexts. His expertise extends to integrating complex multi-omics information to facilitate data-driven decisions in breeding programs. He currently works as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Alliance Bioversity International and CIAT. In this role, he implements cutting-edge genomics-assisted breeding strategies in rice.
